NEWS RELEASE SARNIA, ONTARIO - Bioindustrial Innovation Canada (BIC) is a nationally focused not-for-profit business accelerator that provides critical strategic investment, advice and services to business developers of clean, green and sustainable technologies. In 2015, BIC established the Centre for Commercialization of Sustainable Chemistry Innovation (COMM SCI) initiative, which acts as a hub for the commercialization of sustainable chemistry and bio-based innovation.

With a recent contribution from the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), BIC has developed the Ontario Bioindustrial Innovation Network (OBIN). OBIN will continue to support the growth of the Hybrid Chemistry Cluster in Sarnia-Lambton and to enable to launch a new Sustainable Chemistry Cluster in the Eastern Ontario St. Lawrence Corridor region.

To support BIC’s current projects BIC welcomes Abhishek Singh as Junior Project Engineer-In-Training. Abhishek holds a M.Eng in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering from the University of Western Ontario with a specialization in Reaction and Process systems. Before pursuing his Masters, he worked in the petrochemical sector for 4.5 years in commissioning of paraxylene complex. "I am thrilled to restart my career with Bioindustrial Innovation Canada (BIC) and support environmentally-responsible technology,” says Abhishek. “I hope to help the BIC team in achieving their targets by applying my academic background and industrial experience to support new projects.”

Sandy Marshall, BIC Executive Director is excited to have Abhishek join the BIC team.

“Abhishek is a good fit to support the technical activities of one of BIC’s recently launched OBIN COMM SCI projects, Aduro Energy Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Aduro Clean Technologies Inc.,” says Sandy. “Abhishek will be a valuable resource for Aduro Energy Inc., as they move on to their next stage of commercialization.” Aduro Energy Inc., plans to build a revenue generating pilot-scale unit in Sarnia Ontario to process and demonstrate the companies patented Hydrochemolytic™ Technology (HCTTM) and Hydrochemolytic™ Plastics Upcycling (HPUTM) technology. Having this demonstration unit will allow Aduro to conduct trials, test technology optimization on several feedstocks including heavy oil and post consumer waste polymers.
