Bioindustrial Innovation Canada Welcomes Sajib Barua

SARNIA, Ontario – Bioindustrial Innovation Canada (BIC) is a nationally focused not-for-profit business accelerator that provides critical strategic investment, advice and services to business developers of clean, green and sustainable technologies. BIC continues to support early stage companies in the Sarnia-Lambton region and its emerging hybrid chemistry cluster. BIC’s vision is to create jobs and economic value sustainably for Canada.

In support of its work, BIC’s Executive Director, A.J. (Sandy) Marshall wishes to welcome Sajib Barua to the BIC management team as a junior Engineer-in-Training. Sajib will be responsible for executing projects with internal and external organizations, assessing technical details of potential projects and conducting due diligence on potential investments.

Sajib holds a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) and a M.Sc. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Alberta. During his graduate schooling, Sajib developing an advanced anaerobic digester to improve biomethane production from various waste biomass (eg. food waste, digested sludge, etc.). He also has experience with Microbial Electrochemical Cell; particularly focused on side-stream nitrogen recovery unit development from ammonia rich digested sludge, and self-powered biosensor development to detect organic materials in water samples.

"Being new to the area I can already see the region’s willingness to develop innovative ideas and commercialize them within the hybrid chemistry cluster, a vision driven by BIC. I am pleased to bring my expertise to the BIC management team and look forward to working with companies committed to the development of sustainable technologies.”
