Bioindustrial Innovation Canada invests in Greyter Water Systems

BIC and Greyter Water Systems

NEWS RELEASE SARNIA, ONT Bioindustrial Innovation Canada (BIC) recently led and has closed an investment through the Centre for Commercialization of Sustainable Chemistry Innovation (COMM SCI) in the Series A round for Greyter Water Systems. In 2016, BIC established COMM SCI, which acts as a hub for the commercialization of sustainable chemistry and bio-based innovation. Bio-based start-ups and sustainable chemistry companies can participate in this program to remove barriers to commercialization and investments.

Greyter Water Systems is an Ontario-based company that has developed innovative water reuse technology that creates water-efficient buildings and homes. The company’s Greyter HOME solution is an award-winning, compact, fully automated water recycling system that can help reduce indoor water consumption by as much as 25 percent in a family home. The system captures water from showers and bathtubs, treats it to near-potable quality and provides clean, odour-free water to meet a home’s toilet flushing demands. The Greyter HOME is one of the greatest water conservation solutions for new home construction and the only practical NSF 350-certified solution available on the market today. Many municipalities are recognizing the benefits of residential water recycling to conserve regional water supplies and create water-efficient communities, especially in areas where growth is constrained by limited water resources.

In late 2017, Greyter Water Systems closed a $1.1 million seed round investment also led by BIC.

“Greyter Water Systems has developed a novel approach to water conservation for the home and commercial markets with an enormous potential to conserve precious water resources both in Canada and the U.S.,” says Wayne Maddever, BIC Portfolio Manager. “With a strong management team and excellent technology, Greyter represents the type of investment that excites us here at Bioindustrial Innovation Canada.”

“Bioindustrial Innovation Canada has been an outstanding supporter of Greyter, not only as an investor but as an advisor,” says Mark Sales, Chief Executive Officer of Greyer Water Systems. “We look forward to a long and successful relationship with BIC as we grow our markets.”
