NEWS RELEASE

SARNIA, Ontario – Life Sciences Ontario (LSO) Celebration of Success awards dinner was held last week on February 28, 2018 at Toronto’s Liberty Grand. The awards recognized outstanding individuals and companies contributing to the success of Ontario’s life sciences sector.

The LSO Awards are an important part of the organization’s mandate to advocate for Ontario’s life sciences sector, by celebrating the individuals and companies behind its success.

“This year’s LSO Award recipients represent an outstanding group of Ontario life sciences innovators who have made an enormous impact on our sector,” organization president, Jason Field, said in a news release.

George Mallay, recently retired general manager of the Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership, was honoured with The Community Service Award by LSO.

“This award came as a complete surprise. I was very flattered to accept this award at LSO’s outstanding gala in Toronto. I just want to say thank you again to Murray McLaughlin, Advisor of Bioindustrial Innovation Canada (BIC) for nominating me, and to LSO for this honour. I think the Ontario and Canadian industrial bioproducts and sustainable energy industries are well-positioned for a bright future” said George.

“When I look back over George’s career, I saw him as a key player in cluster development. He was able to define the direction to build the sustainable chemistry and energy cluster in Sarnia, and quietly keep people on course to reach that goal. To me that made him an excellent candidate for the Community Service Award which he received” said Murray McLaughlin.

George’s leadership cut across the sector as he participated on boards as a volunteer, including Bioindustrial Innovation Canada and the Sustainable Chemistry Alliance Board.
